The Strengthening Ethics and Responsible Conduct of Clinical Trials in East and Sub-Saharan Africa (SERCEA) project continues to make significant strides in promoting ethical standards in clinical research across the region. Today marked a notable milestone for the SERCEA project as the team led by Ms. Hellen Opolot, the project scientific lead met with the Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel Byaruhanga and key members of Kawempe National Referral Hospital in Uganda. The primary objective of this meeting was to discuss the establishment of an accredited Research Ethics Committee (REC) at the hospital, a step crucial for enhancing the hospital’s capacity for ethical oversight of clinical research.
